We stayed one night and were the only people in the RV sites. Looked like it would be very crowded in the peak season as there was not much room between hook ups. Great location, close to hiking and the lake. Has a small store and restaurant.
Great campground among the trees, very large trees. Site was a little tight for a 34' motorhome, but manageable. You would have to be lucky to find one for a large rig and may take some time getting it in place. The place was a ghost town this late in the year and it was fantastic. Only one loop open so the closed loops made a great walking trail. Rialto Beach is nearby and was worth seeing as it was a sunny morning after a large storm with high surf crashing on the beach. I would recommend this campground.
When they say rustic they mean it. This place is old and they are proud of it. Sites were fine but very sterile. We were the only guests in the RV park and that made it seem spacious. In high season I would imagine this to be cramped. Nice staff. They have cool old travel trailers permanently parked for rent as well. Reasonably close to the beach. The women liked it and the men thought it was over priced and run down.
This is a purpose built campground for OHV access to the sand dunes. It is not for solitude and relaxation. This is basically a gravel parking lot which resembles the pit area at a racetrack. Super large sites for big rigs with toy haulers. You could park a full race transport out here. Some sites will accommodate multiple rigs. Rates depend on size of your site and whether it has a covered shelter.
